Release date and platforms

  • PS5: September 24, 2026. Konami's producer Masakazu Hirayama confirmed the date on the PlayStation Blog, where Townfall was positioned as a PS5 release built around the console's feature set.
  • PC: September 23, 2026. The Steam page lists the PC version with Steam's own release date set a day ahead of the PS5 launch, alongside the console edition.
  • Console exclusivity: PS5. Townfall is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive — Xbox and Switch are not part of the launch. The game is also playable on PS5 Pro, with the full feature set covered in our PS5 vs PS5 Pro comparison.

Editions and pre-order bonuses

Townfall ships in two editions on PlayStation Store:

  • Standard Edition — the base game.
  • Deluxe Edition — the base game plus the digital Deluxe extras announced at Sony's State of Play.
  • Pre-order bonuses — both editions include the "CRTV: Rusted" and "CRTV: Beach Edition" cosmetic skins that change the look of your CRTV, the handheld TV you use to see through the fog.

Who makes it and who's in it

  • Developer: Screen Burn, directed by Jon McKellan.
  • Publishers: Konami, with Annapurna Interactive on board.
  • Simon Ordell is voiced by Jovan Adepo; the credited cast also includes Terry O'Quinn (Richard), Kezia Burrows (Zoe) and Kenjirō Tsuda in the Japanese-language cast.
  • Audio: composed by Pilotpriest with audio direction from Byron Bullock — Townfall's custom 3D audio is central to its horror, and the single most consistent point of praise in the review roundup.

What kind of game is it?

Townfall is a first-person survival horror — the first full-length Silent Hill played entirely through the protagonist's eyes. Simon is drawn back to the island town of St. Amelia by a voice on a handheld TV, where a fog-heavy community that seems abandoned is very much not at rest. Combat exists but is often the wrong answer: you will sneak, hide, and tune the CRTV to track what hunts you. New here? The release-week checklist

  1. Set the difficulty expectation now — critics flag hardcore stealth and genuinely hard puzzles.
  2. Learn the CRTV early — it replaces the series radio, and mastering it is the difference between terror and frustration.
  3. Play with headphones — the 3D audio mix is doing half the work.
  4. Avoid spoilers — the story's fragments-of-the-past structure is the part critics agree you should experience clean.
